# Port of irssi 1.4.5

Since there seems to be an increasing demand for an IRC client on Genode I ported [irssi](https://irssi.org/). You can find it in my (_cnuke_) index under _Tools (Extra)_, available for _arm\_v8a_ and _x86\_64_.

The [port](https://github.com/cnuke/goa-projects/commit/112e2813f329019b31edd3b551b7bdc77f202a55) uses _goa_¹ and pretty much all of the more advanced stuff — modules/plugins and so on — is disabled or untested, like _DCC_. The pkg contains the **ISRG Root X1** certificate, so verified TLS with servers using [letsencrypt](https://letsencrypt.org) certificates should work ([libera](https://libera.chat/) and [OFTC](https://oftc.net) are the networks tested so far).

Irssi will create its configuration directory _.irssi_ in the file-system labelled with _home_, where you can make all the usual adjustments.

The port was not thoroughly tested yet but basic functionality appears to work fine — I visited our IRC channel _#genode_ at _irc.libera.chat:6697_ successfully today.

Edit: published a _arm\_v8a_ pkg as well.
