Hello,

I just uploaded the first release candidate of Sculpt 25.10 RC1 for PC under the following URLs. It’s also available via the Sculpt “System → Update” dialog in entry `https://depot.genode.org/chelmuth` from a running Sculpt installation.

Please report issues and ask questions on the mailing list [1] or the Genode Users Discourse forum [2].

Had some time to give the upgrade a go and so dug out my USB stick. Unfortunately it must have deteriorated in some way because now it will not boot.

I will wait for the actual release later this week. How are others finding the preview?

At which point does the boot get stuck? Do you see the Genode logo in GRUB?

Iirc, the logo does show but a bad sector is reported and it hangs. There is nothing important on this usb install so I am expecting to make a fresh one when the release comes out.

I tried out the new version on my notebook. Apart from a few occasional glitches and fine-tuning, it seems to work. I’m looking forward to trying out the new syntax when I get the chance.

Great news. In light of the new HRD - or HID? - have publishers received a press release? Liam Proven of The Register seems to have a soft spot for interesting systems like Plan 9, Genode and Haiku.

In order to use a VM with the new Debian 13, I tried to create one with the Debian13.1.0 component. Unfortunately, it kept crashing. I can attach the /report/logs file if that helps.

Please do, I’ll check here as well. That being said, the _pkg_ changed somewhat and is now expected to be routed to the _recall\_fs_ where it will create a _vm_ sub-directory that will now contain the _machine.vbox6_, _machine.vdi_ and the installer _.iso_.

So you have to point _vbox6_ to _/recall\_fs/debian-13.1.0/vm_.

Installing the _debian-13.1.0_ pkg and downloading the _.iso_ into the _recall\_fs_ went fine here. However, I noticed that you cannot use the **…** button with the _recall\_fs_.

From the _vbox6_ dialog one has to navigate via

`used file system → recall → debian-13.1.0 → vm`

to directory containing the assets.

Please use my current index as there exists a new Debian 13.2.0 release and I updated the pkg (as the old URL is no longer valid).
