I have been interested in the MNT Reform laptops for some time, and my desire is to one day run SculptOS on a Reform laptop. However, I need some guidance before I feel confident to place an order with MNT.
The current offering from MNT comes with the RK3588 processor, Mali G610 GPU, and version 3.0 of their Motherboard. This is currently the same offering on the upcoming Reform Next. However, the official Sculpt image only supports the i.MX8 variant.
Are there plans to support SculptOS on future Reform variants such as the current Reform and Reform Next?
Have the MNT community itself expressed much interest in keeping Sculpt compatible with their latest hardware? I know they put the effort in to ensure that Debian (Linux) is supported. Whilst we all probably accept that has priority, it would be nice for Genode to have some assistance.
I agree, but it’s a hard question for me to answer.
I had just assumed that MNT enjoyed Genode as much as Genode enjoys MNT. Genode certainly give’s MNT some good promotion
If I recall correctly, at one stage, the MNT Reform was being offered with the option to have SculptOS pre-installed!
In my humble opinion, SculptOS on an MNT Reform is a match made in heaven. But maybe I’m asking on the wrong forum. I think I’ve nagged Lucie over at MNT enough in the past over this topic also. But it’s been a minute (pun intended), perhaps I’ll give them another friendly nudge
